Conquer Your Dental Fears With Sedation Dentistry

Saginaw, TX Sedation Dentistry

sedation dentistry - fort worth dentistOver 30 million Americans put off going to the dentist until dental pain becomes a real problem. Unfortunately, pain is usually the last symptom of a serious dental problem. If going to the dentist is not at the top of your list of things to do, you’re not alone: dental fears and anxieties are shared by millions of Americans who find all sorts of excuses to put off going to see the dentist. Sedation dentistry can help with this fear.

But you don’t need to fear a dentist visit, or put it off any longer. Sedation dentistry allows all the sights, sounds, and smells associated with a dentist office to virtually vanish as you drift peacefully to sleep with the aid of sedation. At Lake Country Dental, we work to provide patients with an anxiety-free dental experience. With sedation dentistry, we are able to complete literally years’ worth of dental work in just one appointment! Our sedation patients in Fort Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Worth, Springtown, Azle, and Saginaw have described their experiences as calm, soothing, and relaxing.

About Sedation Dentistry at Our Fort Worth Facility

Sedation dentistry is not for everyone, but depending on your anxiety level, apprehension, fear, or inability to get numb our doctors can use a variety of sedation methods to help you achieve a state of deep relaxation. Sedative drugs are most ideal more patients who have a dental phobia. The agents are administered to patients through a number of ways including IVs, prescription pills, and nitrous oxide gas.

Sedation dentistry at our Fort Worth dental office is safe, effective, and administered by our trained professionals.

At Lake Country Dental at Eagle Mountain Lake, we provide three types of sedation dentistry:

  • Oral Sedation – The pill allows the patient to be relaxed during the appointment without being completely sedated. Often times the patient falls asleep during the appointment due to the level of relaxation. It should be noted when using this method of sedation, the level of sedation for each person is not predictable. It may take some time to get the patient to a comfortable level before the dental procedure can begin.
  • Nitrous Oxide – Also known as “laughing gas”, this type of sedation is administered through a nasal mask. This is the most common form of sedation in dentistry. Nitrous oxide has been used safely for many years, and with this form of sedation, the patient should be able to drive home or resume normal activities after the procedure.
  • Intravenous (IV) Sedation – This type of sedation is recommended for patients with extreme fear of dental procedures. The sedation is administered through an IV by a board-certified anesthesiologist. IV Sedation provides the patient the deepest level of relaxation. The patient’s vital signs will be monitored during the entire appointment. This allows us to accomplish more dentistry in a single setting.

Fear can keep patients from seeking dental help for many years. At Lake Country Dental in Fort Worth, Dr. Ray D.
